Here, in the fresh clean air of Hadrian's Wall country, our herds enjoy a great quality of life. Our animals are hardy enough to spend most, if not all, the year on the hills. Few rare breed farmers go to the extent of ensuring a 100% pedigree throughout all herds, but we want to bring you the best of the best - so for us this is a priority.

Not only that, but we butcher all the meat ourselves on the premises so that we never lose the all important traceablility. Therefore, we can assure you that all the meat we sell has been carefully checked at each step of the process.

Charles & Debbie Rayson have been in charge at Herding Hill for five years, but the farm's history goes back centuries on this site. Charles' farming background in Hexham has stood him in good stead for his present position.

In our new, purpose-built farm shop, we sell our beef, pork and lamb, as well as a wide range of complimentary products and items which we source carefully. Much more than a butchers, we also made our own pickles and chutneys for you to enjoy.

In the coffee-shop you can experience our home-made cakes and scones alongside a top-class cup of cappuccino, latte, or choose from our selection of other drinks.
