We are very proud of the quality of the meat we offer for sale at Herding Hill Farm Shop. We offer a wide range of products, all of the highest possible quality. We believe that our dedication in producing the best quality produce will show in the delicious meals you can create using it at home.

Our award-winning sausages and burgers are all made on the farm to our own recipes. We do not use preservatives or additives and you can taste the difference. The same goes for our gammon and bacon, we cure all our bacon products on the farm and we're proud of the awards we have won.

Everything we do with regard to production is about quality, rather than mass production. Dexter, for example, is the smallest breed of cattle in England and the meat yield is therefore lower, despite production costs being similar to larger animals. We rear Dexter beef because of its exceptional quality rather than for any other commercial reason. All our butchering is done on the farm, where we can control cleanliness and guarantee quality.

We supply the North-East's only five star hotel, Seaham Hall, and we're proud that they choose our meat in order to meet the discerning requirements of their guests.


The beautiful area around Herding Hill


Our cows are predominantly grass fed, although silage is available to them in winter. Our pigs are fed on barley, wheat and broad beans, all of which are sourced locally in Northumberland. The Berkshire breed is, once again, chosen purely on quality of meat. We believe that our careful rearing of these rare breeds delivers the outstanding quality that has won us awards and notoriety throughout the region.
