Kielder Water and Forest Park

An hour’s drive from Herding Hill Farm, Kielder reservoir is home to the largest manmade lake in Northern Europe and, at over 250 square miles, the largest working forest in England. It is one of Britain’s largest nature resorts with a thriving wildlife including red squirrel, deer and some rare birds. The best way to explore Kielder is to start at one of the three visitor centres, Tower Knowe, Kielder Waterside or Kielder Castle. Several water activities are also available including water skiing and wake boarding. The 27mile Lakeside Way encircles the shortlines and is ideal for both walking and cycling.
