We are proud to be
one of the few 5-star rated, dog friendly campsites in the UK, offering a
various range of great walks and convenient amenities – we guarantee your dog
will have an equally enjoyable time when you are camping Northumberland!
For dog owners who love a good walk, finding good Hadrian's Wall walking routes can sometimes be a bit tricky, especially if you want to let your dog run free off the lead. The good news is our dog-friendly campsite in Northumberland, just 1 mile from Hadrian’s Wall, means there is plenty of choice. Whilst we ask that dogs are always kept on a lead whilst on the campsite itself, we have opened up an area to the South of the access road as a dog walk where dogs can be let off their lead. There are wonderful views down the valley and we have placed a couple of benches up there for those that want to spend a short while enjoying the peace. It is a great spot to watch the sunset.
We have a couple of good walks starting right from the campsite (see the map below). There are long stretches on this walk where you can let your dog off the lead, but there may be sheep and cattle in places along the route so you will need to put your dog back on a lead at these points.
If you fancy
venturing a little further afield, you can enjoy a day at the
Northumberland coast with your four-legged companion,
this takes just 90 minutes to
reach by car. One of the most popular walks is the Craster to
Low Newton via Embleton Bay. At 6 miles long, this should take
about 2 hours to complete so you can really make a day of it and perhaps enjoy
a picnic on the seafront. If you’re looking for a dog
friendly campsite with so much to offer, we think Herding
Hill Farm is the perfect choice. Please note that we do not allow dogs in our Luxury Lodge or our Castle Pods with hot tub.
