Star trails on Hadrian's Wall
Northumberland is home to the most pristine skies in Northumberland. Discover the stunning star trails on Hadrian's Wall through your camera lens. Don't forget to post your snaps on social media and tag us! Cawfields Quarry is a designated Dark Sky Discovery Site and is a short walk. Walltown Crags and Steel Rigg are great spots for dramatic Hadrian's Wall landscapes. The dark skies of Herding Hill Farm are a great spot for capturing the Milky Way.

Hadrian's Wall sunsets
Capture beautiful sunsets along Hadrian's Wall all year round. We are in an advantageous position, just 1 mile from the wall, meaning you can capture some stunning shots directly on site or from just a short walk. Our dog walk is a great spot for sunsets. Even if it isn't a completely clear day, you can achieve some great photos as clouds add drama and dimension to a sunset shot.

Newcastle Quayside
For a slightly different backdrop, discover the cosmopolitan city of Newcastle with stunning lights and water reflections. You can be in the centre of Newcastle in less than one hour by car or if you prefer public transport, travel via bus or train from Haltwhistle.

Northumberland castles & coastlines
Explore breath-taking castles on dramatic backdrops. We'd recommend visiting Northumberland castles and coastlines at sunrise to capture them in all their glory. The sunrise sits behind the castle and there will be some wonderful reflections on the sands. They are also great places to watch the Northern lights esepcially spots like Dunstanburgh Castle and Bamburgh Castle. You also have a great chance of wildlife spotting at the Farne Islands and Coquet Island.

Hareshaw Linn, Bellingham
Explore the majestic 9m high waterfall and enjoy not only the wonderful backdrop but the relaxing sounds of water falling. You could even take a swim in the small pool at its base. Bring along your camera and get snapping! Hareshaw Linn waterfall is located outside the village of Bellingham and is a 40-minute drive from Herding Hill Farm.
