Dog Friendly Glamping Northumberland

Did you know that Roman pets included the greyhound, the ferret, the blackbird, the nightingale, the parrot and small monkeys?

We find that most of our guests choosing 5-star dog-friendly accommodation at Herding Hill Farm bring their dog!

As a dog-friendly campsite in Northumberland, we know how important it is to bring along the dearly loved canine members of your family when camping Northumberland, so at Herding Hill Farm we welcome up to 2 ‘well behaved’ dogs per Wigwam cabin or in our Luxury Lodge for small cleaning charge or one well behaved dog in our Langley Castle and Dunstanburgh Castle Pods. Whilst our Luxury Lodge has an enclosed garden, our Wigwam cabins and Castle Pods do not and dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. We provide a sturdy dog ring outside your Wigwam or Castle Pod for your convenience.

If you fancy pitching up a tent, our camping and touring pitches are dog-friendly too and it is free to bring your pet. Camping and glamping with your dog can be one of the very best experiences to share with your four-legged friend. They must be kept on a short leash at all times whilst on site and there is a dog lead tie ring on each pitch. We have a wonderful private dog walk on site past the animal petting farm and onto the hill and an enclosed dog exercise field where your four-legged friends can be let off the lead to run around.

At the rear of our amenities building is a dedicated hot water dog wash.

However, no dangerous breeds please!

We do love having dogs at the Northumberland campsite and we make no separate charge for them (except a nominal cleaning charge of £5 a night for dogs in our dog friendly Wigwam Cabin glamping pods Northumberland or £25 per stay in our Luxury Lodge, Langley Castle or Dunstanburgh Castle Pods).

For the safety and comfort of all our guests though, we do ask that your dog is always kept on a lead or tethered whilst in our Hadrians Wall campsite itself (dogs can be let off at your own risk when on the dog walk) and always cleaned up after. To make it easier for you we have included a sturdy dog ring at every pitch and a supply of poo bags at our dog litter bins. If these important rules are not adhered to, then you will be asked to leave the site. It goes without saying that your dog should be healthy (vaccinated), socialised (good with other pooches) and obedient.

The AD122 Hadrian’s Wall Country bus, which stops at the entrance to our Hadrians wall campsite, is also dog-friendly.

Ask our site wardens to recommend dog-friendly places to eat.

Dog Friendly Walks Nearby

Our dog-friendly campsite not only offers great amenities on-site but there are also great dog walks nearby too when camping Northumberland. For dog owners who love a good walk, finding good walking routes can sometimes be a bit tricky, especially if you want to let your dog run free off the lead. We have opened up a dog walk area to the South of our campsite where you are free to take your dog. From the top of the hill there are wonderful views across to the North Pennines and we have put some benches up there for those that want to watch the Northumberland sun set. There is also an enclosed exercise field where you are free to let your pet off the lead.

We have a couple of good walks starting right from our dog-friendly campsite. There are long stretches on this walk where you can let your dog off the lead, but there may be cattle in places along the route so you will need to put your dog back on a lead at these points.
